Training Overview
Unlike classes that rely heavily on lengthy slide presentations and minimal range time, our firearm training emphasizes practical skills. You will learn essential techniques for self-defense, how to react under pressure, and make sound decisions in critical situations. We go far beyond the minimum required standards because your safety matters to us.
Our course runs approximately nine hours, during which we introduce you to firearm fundamentals and quickly move into hands-on drills. Throughout the day, you’ll gain a clear, practical understanding of defensive handgun use based on years of training and real-world experience.
Disqualifying Offenses
Before registering, please view the Louisiana State Police eligibility requirements. Certain criminal convictions or legal restrictions may prevent permit approval:
- Any felony drug offense
- A misdemeanor domestic violence offense
- Aggravated battery or any felonious crime of violence
- Felony theft, burglary, or robbery
- Any offense committed with a firearm
- Falsifying information to obtain a concealed carry certification
- Having a revoked or suspended carry license
- Attempting or assisting in committing any of the above offenses
- Receiving a dishonorable discharge from the military

Course Topics Covered
Handgun Nomenclature & Operation
Understanding the components and operation of semi-automatic pistols and revolvers is crucial for anyone pursuing a concealed carry certification. This includes safe handling practices and procedures that every responsible firearm owner should follow.
Ammunition Knowledge & Ballistics
A comprehensive knowledge of ammunition types, bullet design, and ballistics is essential for effective defensive handgun use. This includes understanding penetration and specific considerations for concealed carry, as well as evaluating bullet performance and making informed ammunition selections. Real world shooting incidents are reviewed.
Handgun Fundamentals
Mastering the fundamentals is key in firearm training: including proper grip, stance, and presentation. Sight alignment and sight picture, trigger press and control, recoil management, and follow-through are all critical skills for effective shooting. Students receive a strong emphasis on point of aim to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Legal Use of Force
A thorough understanding of the legal use of force is vital, particularly regarding the use of deadly force. Participants will explore conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques while reviewing Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:18 through 14:22, along with additional laws related to force, child access prevention, and secure firearm storage.
Advanced Defensive Skills
This training will cover advanced defensive skills for responding to threats at close distances and stress management under threat. Developing a defensive mindset is crucial, and participants will learn advanced techniques that are used by professionals, including hands-on drills and practical exercises. Many of the drills and exercises go beyond the state standard and are not covered in most concealed carry classes.
Live-Fire Qualification
Participants will complete the Louisiana mandatory course of fire, along with additional advanced live-fire training that goes beyond the minimum standards, ensuring readiness for effective defensive handgun use.

Many concealed carry certification classes vary widely in quality. Unfortunately, not all concealed carry classes provide the same level of hands-on defensive training or real-world experience. They cover the law, let you take a few shots, and hand you a certificate. It’s quick money, but it doesn’t prepare you. We encourage students to research instructors carefully and choose training that prioritizes safety, practical and effective skills, and individual attention.

Our class is suitable for men and women of all ages, and even younger students (14 yoa and up) have successfully trained here with a parent or guardian. You will never be asked to perform techniques beyond your physical ability. If you’ve never fired a handgun before, don’t worry—many of our students are complete beginners. We are here to teach you the right way, step-by-step, and give you skills that could one day save your life and the lives of those you love.

Classroom and Range
Cost
$100 per student
Group discounts available for 10 or more students
All students must bring:
- A good attitude
- An open mind
- A functioning handgun (semi-automatic or revolver) chambered in an effective defensive caliber — preferably .380 ACP or higher
- If you do not own a handgun, one will be provided.
- 50 rounds of ammunition
- Ammo is available for purchase at the range if needed.
- Ear and eye protection can be rented at the range for about $2.00
- A good pair of shoes
- Any necessary medication
- Snacks and drinks
Note: You may bring a secured, unloaded firearm and unloaded magazines into the classroom. It will be inspected and made safe for training. Do NOT bring ammunition or loaded magazines into the classroom. Leave all ammo in your vehicle.
Course Requirements
All students must sign a liability waiver and complete an emergency contact form at the start of class. The course lasts approximately 8-9 hours, as mandated by the State of Louisiana. The instructor will provide all required documents for your firearm training. Payment is due at the beginning of class. Training location details will be provided upon registration.
